What Will You Spend Yours On?

I see that the £10 Christmas Bonus has gone into my bank account and I'm wondering what I should do with all that amount of money.  (A couple of pints down the pub, maybe?).

We can't complain really, when the £10 Christmas bonus started in the 70s there was no Winter Fuel Allowance - that started in 1997.

It's really a lose-lose scenario for any Government. As Barry says they daren't abolish it, but an inflation-proofed sum would be costly.

The sensible thing would have been to incorporate it into the Winter Payment when that was kicked off, but when has any Government done anything sensible LOL.

So, once a year, the coffee's on the House 😊  😊  😊  😊  😊

When the Bonus was first paid in 1972, it was more than a week's pension and was  148% of the then, weekly rate of basic State Pension for a single person.

 

If that same percentage had been maintained, it would be £231 this year, which is much more than if inflation were used.

I'm too young, but Husband gets the bonus £10. It'll probably go on a couple of bottles of wine. (From Aldi, £4.29 for a quite nice Sauvignon Blanc). 
 

I think the £500/£600 Winter Fuel Allowance is quite generous enough, but an extra tenner at Christmas is nice to get. Not going to turn it down. And of course, no government is going to slash it, now.

COFFEE, 5 X bags of ground coffee for my cafetiere, each bag containing 227g. 1 bag lasts me round about 2 weeks, so 10 weeks of free coffee. I have 2 coffees every morning = 28 coffees from each bag. Not even 10p a cup. Now thats money well spent is it not. And great coffee not colored water from Costa @£3 plus a cup. :0)

I'm too young but OH has the £10 bonus. I have just booked tickets for a Christmas concert and it will go toward that.

Coffee for me too,  Aldi Italian roast is a nice everyday one, or I can put it towards a bag of skullcrusher....
