No one 'has to'.  Some choose to - perhaps because it's widely read and therefore their words will reach a wide audience.

We were in 8th place back in 2021, so nothing's changed recently.

Unless we dropped lower than 8th in the 2 intervening years and have recaptured 8th spot, of course.

If we end the year in 6th, do we get into Europe😉
