This certainly tops the two sparrows we found in our (artificial ) tree one year. I feel our cats knew something about that! We opened the window and the sparrows flew to freedom. 

I would have thought 7 Swans, 6 Geese, 4 Calling Birds, 3 French hens, 2 Turtle Doves or a partridge appropriate    ...   but an Owl? Our old traditions are being destroyed I tells ya. 🦉

Oh no, arnt baby owls protected?  Plod will be feeling their collar, 10 squad cars and a meat wagon at least.

Are you sure it's not a little owl, they are very small.

My husband said the DJs on Radio One this morning were asking people to search their Christmas trees for owls.... and singing choruses of 'No-owl, no-owl, no-owl, no-owl ....'    :o)

so I wondered if it were an adult - perhaps the finder thought it was a baby and the bird sanctuary said - ay oop  lad.....
