Reputable Models Can Come From...

...area occupied by Israel.
There have been more than 300 people killed by the occupiers, the Israeli army, in the last few months. This is supposed to be a peaceful area.
Any thoughts?
Untitled, repeating the same thing over and over won't change the situation. For Hamas life is cheap. It is not protecting its own people - it is using them. Israel will not stop - it can't - because by doing so it would expose itself to its own annihilation. What is it about that you don't understand?
You accuse me of repetition and then do exactly the same lol. Israel is not fighting a defensive war in the west bank which is not controlled by hamas, it is behaving in an expansionist and colonial manner that will eventually provoke violent resistance if it continues. in gaza it is being attacked by a monster of its own making and is using its war against hamas as a pretext for ethnic cleansing.
Because I don't think it is that simple. if hamas was such a grave threat to israel then why did the israeli government support it for so long? the israeli statecis hardly blameless here - sponsor terrorists and you get terror.
the OP is about the west bank where israel is not fighting for survival at all, it is if anything the aggressor.
I disagree naomi.
"Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas. This is part of our strategy — to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank."
- Benjamin Netanyahu.
and that is exactly what they did for years.
Do the Israelis still use that motto, "Every Israeli is a front line soldier"?
Anyway, Israel won't stop until it has flattened Gaza. And they don't care about anything that might be said about that. That's my perception. I said many years ago that if it thought it could get away with it, Israel would deport every Arab from Gaza in much the same way that the Nazis deported the Jews. Maybe this is the start of that.
hamas? probably not. which is why it was probably unwise for the israeli government to support them for so long. but hamas has not always been in power in gaza and although their grip there is formidable it is not invincible. remove hamas from their position of authority in gaza and they'll be much less of a threat. difficult but not impossible, and better by far for all concerned than what israel is currently doing.
// remove hamas from their position of authority in gaza //
There's two answers to that. Firstly that's what Israel is trying to do .... or .... Hmmm..... yes, let's call a ceasefire (hopefully one that Hamas will respect this time) and take the time to organise a nice civilised election. That'll work. :o/
It's usual for a reason
naomi
hamas thrives on war with israel. every dead civilian will ultimately strengthen them so this war as well as being run by evil methods will ultimately fail in its stated goal of defeating hamas. israel propped up hamas for years and maintained their power - they have the means to remove them and replace them. but they won't because what they actually want is gaza. that's why you have israeli ministers calling it "nakba 2023" and why you have israeli soldiers boasting online that gaza belongs to them now.
