Is This Fair If I Only Just Booked?
I'm in a predicament (again) minor thing but it's still a predicament
I rang up today and made an appointment at the hairdressers at 15:30 ish for the same day they booked me in for 17:45.
At 16:30 I rang to ask if I could rebook for another day as I wouldn't make it home on time and he said that I couldn't as I'd already booked now and they can't refill the slot. There is a 50% payment you have to make
He asked what time I'd be home and said I could rebook for 7 instead so I've done that but it's not ideal.
I've been going to this place for 2 decades but didn't know they could be like this.
What would you do?

I'm not sure what happened at your end between 3:30 a when you booked and 4:30 when you realised you couldn't make that time, but it didn't leave them much time to find someone to fill the slot.
Rather than charge you 50% for a no-show they have accommodated you at a later time/date which is what you want, and you have accepted.
Sounds like a good outcome to me. Your hair will look good tomorrow, hopefully.
My wife's hairdresser has a 50% deposit when booking policy because she was losing money with no shows.
I can understand you being a bit miffed though. The cancellation fee would be understandable if you'd booked days or weeks in advance but does seem a bit petty here.
Still, there is nothing you can do about it, especially if you want to keep him as your regular stylist
Well when I phoned up to rebook it was to another day but I felt pressured by him to book the later 7pm slot so this is why I did.
Anyway I'm not going quite a bit has happened this afternoon at work. So I have emailed him (I'm scared to phone again lol) to apologise/ tell him it was my mistake etc etc and that if he sends their bank details I'l pay the 50% cancellation fee.
Don't see why I should pay the full fee they demand when people don't turn up though. As Id only booked the appointment an hour prior.
Booking well in advance and then having to change/ cancel might be seen as unavoidable...depending on the reason. Booking at short notice and cancelling not even an hour later just looks like poor time management...and possibly inconsiderate. They may have juggled their timings to fit you in.
I put your question back to you...What would you do?
Red - this is a strong opinion, not everyone would agree with. I can tell a thing we have in common is we don't think things through first.
Eitherway I am paying the fee
I have been looking at the prices. Now do you think I should pay for a non existent female cut and blow or the male cut and blow?
My hair is only short but the female cut and blow is twice the price :D
