Interesting.......
Quite a swing from a Labour to the Tories.....
It may only be a Council by-election but perhaps the perceived 'disatisfaction' with the Tories, at all levels of government, is actually stronger against Labour and some of its, quite frankly bonkers, rhetoric than some realise or are prepared to admit?

He was a previous Lib Dem councillor for the wonderfully named ward.
Still, some good news for the Tories I guess.
The Labour party took its feminist candidate hostage, forced her to sign a confession and lost the seat. Enormous swing to the Tories, who are incredibly unpopular.
All to do with Trans-extremism and I hope this pattern repeats itself everywhere that Labour seeks to force its' Trans-ideology on the electorate. Some issues transcend even 'proposed traffic reduction schemes'.
other London Council by election news...
// The Conservative party was “wiped out in its former London heartlands” on Friday after the last Tory seat on Richmond council was lost in a by-election.
The Liberal Democrats took the Hampton North ward seat from the Tories and held another in Teddington in votes on Thursday. //
//
It came after support for Labour candidate Laura Pascal collapsed in the east London borough.
Days before the poll Ms Pascal was suspended by her party and members were told to cease campaigning for her following allegations of transphobia and racism.
Posters showing a tweet she had liked, which suggested a trans woman was wearing "womanface" and it was comparable to blackface makeup, had been plastered up across the borough.
Her suspension was lifted on Wednesday afternoon, just hours before the by-election.
A source close Ms Pascal's campaign said :“It was totally impossible for Labour to snatch a win in a marginal ward with a candidate who embroiled herself in a racism scandal.
"Clearly the people of Hackney were deeply offended by this image of blackface to make some sort of clumsy and misguided comparison, which was flyposted all over the ward this week.” //
just to expand on that: the Tories are hoping traffic arrangements will be their big vote-winner in and around London at GE time, which is why they may be spinning this as a triumph for freedom of the roads as against Sadiq Khan's* preference for keeping citizens from choking.
I suspect Labour's ability to self-destruct may well have had a part to play given that they screwed up so near to polling day, but I'm not sure trans matters will be a major point of difference nationwide.
*Actually Boris's, Sadiq just introduced it, but let's not dwell on that.

Well, you fell for it at least, Jno. The rest of us know he's keeping the coffers topped up the easy way.
If the trans issue is the reason is the reason for this unexpected occurrence, I can only hope it's repeated elsewhere and this fashionable nonsense is very firmly kicked into touch.

Did you deliberately skip the part where I pointed out that it was Boris's idea? One of the few Boris ideas that make sense, too!
The report so far is
Almost 50% reduction in toxic nitrogen dioxide pollution in central London.
800,000 tonne reduction in carbon dioxide emissions between 2019 and 2022.
5 times faster reduction of pollution in London than the rest of the UK, between 2016 and 2020.
Naturally, I wouldn't expect anyone outside London to care either way, but it's sweet that they take such an interest in London driving.
jno - I posted the article from the DM because it is the most easily accessible report on this. I have been reading/watching the fallout, etc. on X(Twitter) but as it is spread across many commentators it is difficult to find appropriate links. The Trans issue and the Labour party response to it was certainly top of the list for many women in Hackney.
