i think the world would be a better place if he was dead.

Dead might be a little too much. I'll settle for incarcerated. Or at the very least, off the ballot.

He will always see himself as the victim.  He is incapable of thinking of anyone else but himself.

No punishment will be enough to shut him up.

And yet he still plans on getting his old job back.  His followers are as bad as him.

Rabble-rouser-in-Chief. The trouble is that in America it works.

It couldn't happen to a nicer guy, not a dry eye in the house etc etc.

The only trouble is, Trump has a few million useful idiots in thrall to him that will donate this fine tomorrow and give him a bit extra on top.

Hats off to Donald Trump for pulling the pants off the GOP and exposing their true nature.

@23.28.Whatever you do,Untitled, dont say that on Twitter.I called for the death of Putin a couple of times, and now must be one of the few members of Twitter banned for life.Damned cheek.

madness - only in America!

Spiteful.

...but for all that, he's still popular in the U.S. and could well become the next POTUS.

He was ordered to pay $5M last year but has continued his defamation at every given opportunity. Deserves all he got. Can't be one rule for Trump and one for the rest of America. Can it?

He may be guilty & liable to pay some recompense but the sums quoted are ludicrously excessive. (IMV)

It will only add to the notion he and his followers have - that the Democrats are trying to stop him running again.

He's right of course.

I'd like to see him put in stocks in his underwear in  front of the White House for a while and ridiculed and then locked up for ever.

If I was an American I would be ashamed of what my country has become.

//Can't be one rule for Trump and one for the rest of America. Can it?//

There certainly can; in all the court cases Trump is facing he has called the prosecution a witch-hunt, and claimed that the prosecuting lawyers and judges are corrupt on multiple occasions.

If any other defendant did half of that, they would find themselves charged with contempt of court and sentenced to a short period in jail, and if they continued – to a longer jail sentence.

//Can't be one rule for Trump and one for the rest of America. Can it?//

Clearly it can.  I'd be surprised if anyone else would be handed such a harsh penalty.

part of the reason the penalty was set so high was because of his behaviour in court

//I'd be surprised if anyone else would be handed such a harsh penalty.//

I'd expect a similar fine for someone else of similar wealth to Donald.

I wouldn't.  That really is extortionate.

65 million dollars is in punitive damages, designed to stop him continuing to defame E Jean Carroll as he has continued to do until now. If he does continue to defame her, the damages the next time will be even greater. Basically, Trump needs to shut up or pay up.
