Just had a young lad (scouser by the sound of it) call and try to pursuade me to switch my energy supplier to Scottish Power. I immediately told him i wasn't interested and that i was staying with British Gas. To which he replied, "They're going to go bust. Then you'll be left wthout any energy."

I very politely closed the door on him - then immediately checked his statement with Google who, thankfully informed me that, while there are more energy suppliers expected to go to the wall this year, BG is not one of them.

Wonder how many times this lad's 'scare-tatics' have worked?

If your energy supplier goes bust – who do you think they are going to send out to cut off your supply?

Yes "going bust" is not a scare it's a bonus!

It may not be the bonus TTT claims, trying to sort out any money owed to you by the bust energy supplier (in overpayments) – normally agreed with by your newly assigned supplier.

in reality when an energy firm goes bust they tend to flog all the punters to another firm anyway.

Of course, you should not have volunteered the information that you were with British Gas in the first place!

(And if you do want to change suppliers, Octopus is the one to go for...with their excellent customer score.)

I just say sorry just signed up to a fixed term tariff...  They normally burger off

I would have invited him in and asked him to sign a written statement to that effect, then send it to BG for action. He would of course decline LOL

"Porkies" You sure that wasn't Boris in his new Job ?  Ken.

Are they still allowed to cold call at the door?

Scots Power are AWFUL - five out of six payments have not 'migrated' to my account

I was expected to say 'oh yar, thanks' and ring off.  BUT I had been watching Post Office Horison ( compulsively) and was able to tell her that this was a Double entry to single entry glitch ( I did think 5 outta 6 was sporting) - and the payment wd be found in a suspense account.

LIttle Fluffy also tried - it  does look....

and I countered with 'it doesnt look, it is. I have my bank statements to prove it.' - she did not like this at all.

oh and I still havent got gas ( £190)
