Yes, very odd. Normally when a PM comes out to make a speech outside No 10, it's to announce some sort of action, or policy, or that something has "happened". It felt like scaremongering for political gain to me, that is my honest opinion.
Naomi is correct i.m.o.. In the late 1980s a muslim representing some important Muslim organisation visited the school I was teaching in in Halifax and toured the classes, telling each member of staff what they should and should not not be doing (in my case, teaching representational drawing).
He was quite open about the intention to form the Caliphate for the western world in our area. Along Calderdale, out through Rochdale, Blackburn etc. over the tops,through Skipton and along the Aire Valley to join Bradford.
We were politely sceptical - he informed us very calmly that they would outbreed us and that there would be islamic rule and laws.

Yes but where are we going with this? When the PM comes out at close of play in a Friday one exiwcts him to make some major announcement: instead we got a series of observations which I am sure went down well with many and were rightly backed up by Sir KS. It just all felt a bit odd: like street theatre.
As far as the unspeakable Galloway is concerned we have in fact been here before with him winning by-elections in rabble rousing style. I think we should be careful we don't overrract. People like that feed off conflict: we shouldn't feed him
