Hi, Is there any official recognition for UK persons who served during in the armed forces during the 'Cold War' years, or is it just a commercial enterprise available.
I am looking for my very elderly ill Ma, who served from 1960 to 1962 In Vulcan Bomber Command and from 1962 to 1964 in Admin RAF.
Thanks for any help.

The cold war isn't an actual recognised war with start or end date and wouldn't attract a specific medal. It's just a term we use to desribe the relationships at the time between the West and the iron curtain. Buenchico's link shows the non-world war medals awarded and they were for serving in specific campaigns or parts of the world.
There is a petition at the moment to create a cold war participant medal.

At the moment there is only one official cold war mendal and that is presented to those who took part in nuclear testing during the cold war. I have recently received mine.
