a moderator recently told me that "insulting" behaviour would not be tolerated when i told another user that they "sounded like a nazi" but it would appear that it's quite acceptable to just call gulliver an idiot and tell him to shut up, which actually is nothing but name calling and goes against the site rules. why are the rules being enforced...

well all other posts until mine were assuming that what gulliver posted was accurate so i don't know why you suddenly have a problem with it now.

Just to add to my last post, Gully spend some time going back through Mikey's threads. Here we had a true gentleman who was an ardent socialist, an Englishman living in Swansea for many a year - and with a caravan in deepest West Penwith. He and I used to meet up at a designated hostelry, some of which I took Boaty to, for a beer or two, some good pub food and always a good exchange of gossip and political views.

His threads and responses reflected his intelligence, political passion and logic and there are many on 'News' here that enjoyed their dialogue with him, the banter and that he didn't offer stupid or deriding remarks. There are plenty of learning lessons to be had.

Unfortunately he left us far too early, keeling over in the street with a massive stroke - but he was way overweight, probably pushing 20 stone on a 5 feet-6 or 7 frame - too many Brains! The beer, not the grey matter but he had plenty of that too.

He was/is greatly respected and 'loved' by most on here and an example of AB at its best as, apart from 'listening', he had one other major strength, compassion. I'm sure he looks down from time to time on his GoddrivenPC and shakes his head when he sees some of the threads on AB's 'News' today.

Take heed is all I say.

17:26 What are you talking about? He never posts a link so we never know what he's on about. Others sometimes do it for him but we don't really know if that is the real story. I've seen nothing about the spads etc in the news.

DTC 17.36 (?) Couldn't agree more, dear Mikey was a true socialist but an honest and tolerant man. One could disagree and still be valued.

Currently all is reduced to juvenile 'cat-calling' it seems to me. No real discussion or rational argument. Very sad.

I suppose it wasn't to bad for the staff of the Tory MPs who had said they were jumping ship .At least that gave their staff more time to apply for positions with the incoming Labour MPs. Who will be elected at the General Election.

While there is sadness and the almost definite prospect of unemployment among Conservative staffers,those working for Labour MPs have appeared much more lively as their party heads into the election with a massive lead in the polls

Gulliver - You cannot aportion imagined bias to any Moderator, because no-one, including the other Moderators, knows who performed any deletions, or why.

could you please explain why posts which do nothing other than call gulliver an "idiot" have been left intact? the rules state that name calling is not allowed and calling someone an idiot cannot possibly be anything else.
