It seems that the Chancellor needed to employ an accountant to help her complete her tax return. Can we trust somebody who needs this help, to manage the countries finances?

12.09 He had to be forced to pay up :•) or go to jail. You should really start to settle down with this hard working government, nit picking and bitterness is not good for you.

You lefties should know - you've done enough of it in the past.

Millions of unpaid tax is not nit picking, YES millions. £1,225 is loose change and nit picking.

🤣🤣🤣

Do some people really believe the garbage they write?

As for Robber Reeves I dont have a problem with her using an accountant nor the amount claimed on taxes so long as all MP's can get it.

We expect our politicians to be whiter than white on tax and it really isnt easy (Ask the GOAS).

Needing an accountant to fill in her tax declaration is not an incurred cost because she is an MP. It is an addditional cost caused by extra earnings and accepting bribes for favours, meaning her tax avoidance efforts were more complicated. She is therefor responsible for that not the tax payer. I always thought that accountancy fees were tax deductable for tax preparation purposes too. Why have we been given the bill? Perhaps she doesn't know the rules  ...  or does she prefer to lie as a matter of course?

She has trouble with her expense forms does she not. The truth just falls into a black hole every time she has to submit them.

o god men can be botches !

and is therefor claimable as an allowable expense on that account. - but  we really always knew that didnt we?

( esp those ABers who can spell accountant)

Haha, nice one Togo.

But serioulsy an MP's tax return is not as simple as your average joes.  There are expenses such as office and staff that need to be properly separated out.  A third party is the best way to be clean. So no, on this I cant fault her.

I might add that anyone doing their own tax return is far more likely to be looked at by the tax man than one using an accountant. Accounts made up by an accountant are far more presentable and understandable within a few glances by who needs to look at them. Amen
