Why did Jeremy Hunt try a last ditch attempt to block the OBR from releasing a report on the £22bn Black hole he left behind  him in the Economy. In a letter to the cabinet secretary Hunt says he is concerned that his successor would use the information as a political weapon to justify tax increases. No wonder he has just resigned as shadow Chancellor ....What else are the Tories trying to hide after their disasterous 14 years in power.

Its rather pointless asking when you've answered your question yourself.

Hunt says he did not want the report made public so close to the Budget announcement.   You bet he didn't

Question Author

Wonder how much of this £22bn is lying around in the trouser pockets or offshore bank accounts and trust funds of Tory MPs, and the likes of Baroness Mone and Matt hancock etc.

Gulliver can you show us this £22 billion black hole because this from OBR doesn't seem to confirm it "OBR casts doubt on Reeves’ £22bn ‘black hole’ claim Chancellor was handed just £9.5bn of hidden costs from Jeremy Hunt’s final Budget, watchdog finds"  this is from yesterday's Telegraph.

It's not in the OBR report, so what's your point?

Question Author

TSM 09.47  Just have a think about it....OBR cast doubts on Reeve's claim. So why didn't Reeve's try to block the report if it was not true.

Question Author

Rachel Reeves wanted the OBR report published... Hunt Didn't .  OK. ...Think about it .

I am just stating what is in the papers and it seems there is nowhere in the report that mentions a £22 billion black hole.  I have asked for you to show me it .  So can you or is this just you putting it down and thinking it is true.  I will believe it if and only if you can show me.

I don't think the report said there was a £22billion "black hole".

Hunt (not Reeves) tried to block its release date because he thought it was politically motivated to support Labour's budget.

Simples.

Question Author

10.26 You do not believe it because you don't want to believe it .Ok.

Gulliver I didn't say I didn't believe it I just asked you to show me where the report had mentioned it.  I didn't think you would give me an answer as it is not in there.

Gulliver can't show it, or prove it, because it is not there.

I don't know why anyone bothers responding to Gulliver's posts.

Damn it. I just did. But you get what I mean.

11.12. Maybe they just can't help it. <:○)

Some people believe it because they want to believe it. They can't back it up with a link and paste the relevant evidence.

10.26 You do not believe it because you don't want to believe it .Ok.

You on the other hand believe it because you want to believe it.

You're a fraud gulliver you do exactly what other people do except in a reverse procedure.

I hope that's not too complicated for you. Ok

From what I understand, Hunt was objecting to the OBR releasing their report close to the Budget statement, as previous protocol has always agreed that this is not the right course of action.  OBR have on all previous Budget statements, always abided by this principal.  Hunt believed that Labour were insisting on its release for political gain.

Anyway that is past history, so about entering the real world and talk about the disastrous results that Reeve's budget has inflicted on businesses, and the ordinary workers of this country by introducing the biggest tax hike in the countries history. Reports in all today's newspapers are highlighting the high price we will all have to pay for her actions.  This Governement has done more damage to this country in 3 short months then any previous government and our children and grandchildren are being saddled with a life time of debt.

I did notice one thing that was absent in her budget, and that how she was going to deal with the influx of illegal immigrants, especially over 15,000 have entered the country under Labour's watch.

So, Gulliver and nicebloke, can we have a serious discussion on the Budget and this disatrous Government.

nicebloke, gulliver's thread is about a £22 billion black hole he says the OBR said about in their report.  I just asked him to show us where it came from as it's not from the OBR.  As usual gulliver cannot give the details from the report as it's not there.

As gulliver claims to be a landlord what about the bit in the budget about landlords, "Wednesday’s Budget was bad news for already-beleaguered landlords."  Is he happy with that bit of it.

Nicebloke 11.12 for best answer.. "You just can't help it can you"
