Ascot (1st leg 205), Wetherby and Down Royal provide the races for the '7' today.

Just been reading the sad news that Alastair Down has died, aged just 68. One of the more well-informed racing presenters on our screens over a good number of years when the sport was covered by Channel 4.

Named 'Racing Writer of the Year no less than 5 times, his death came just a week after being honoured at Cheltenham when the press-room was re-named 'The Alastair Down Press Room'.

RIP Alastair.
