We'll have to wait and see if it actually happens and if so what the impact is. It's proposed to be applied to imports into US from all countries, with an even higher rate for some like China.... so unless the US can manufacture and sell to itself it may be that Americans will still buy roughly the same level of imports in order to meet their needs. Protectionist measures often fail and/or lead to retaliation so often are removed/scaled back.

I am not sure how she is expecting much growth after the budget she delivered, but I seriously doubt she has "pleaded" with Trump. I do hate sensationalised headlines.

curlyfries...Well...it's a typical DM headline. Images of her grovelling. Which may happen 🤔 

Trump keeps insisting the tariffs are a tax paid by those in the exporting country and not those importing the goods who then have the option to pass all or part of the tariffs, to consumers.

After the way they've treated Trump these people are kidding themselves if they think they can maintain a special relationship with the US.   He doesn't need them.  They're small fry.
