The definition on the screen is getting worse with blured text. It is quite an old Dell. Has it had it or can I do anything about it? I'm not Tech savvy so keep it as simple as possible

Open the Device Manager by typing "device manager" in the taskbar search box (bottom left of screen)
Select Display adapters
Right-click on your graphics card
Select Properties
Navigate to the Driver tab
Click Update Driver
Select Search automatically for updated driver software
It should only take a couple of minutes
To
update a graphics driver in Windows 7, you can use the Device Manager to search for an updated driver or download one from the manufacturer's website:

If Windows finds an update, install it
