..*Sir Keir Starmer and his newly elected  powerful Labour Party*..           They have achieved the three biggest return flights ever so far, as 10,000 migrants have been deported since Labour took power in July. Sending individuals back to various countries including Albania ,Poland,Romania,and Vietnam .More flights are planned. Well done Sir Keir.

Asking peope to return on a voluntary basis would have to be made worth their while - and whilst that works for some, from the government's point of view it's the easy option.  They are papering over the cracks rather than  addressing the real problem.

Most of the immigrants who are still in the UK have booked return flights to go back to their Countries of origin for Christmas returning to the UK in the New Year.lol.

i am not yet convinced that they have naomi. the only source i can find for it is a post on social media made by the MP for dover. i suppose he might plausibly know but i think if it were properly verified then labour would be making a much bigger deal of it.

I've seen no reports of objection... and given what's gone before when governments have tried to deport people, that's unprecedented.   And such a huge number too.

I tht I read 3 planes with 600 people on board - though I doubt if even that is true.

Presumably any from E. Europe etc. would go by sea & land.

Problem here is ,the dyed in the wool true Blues who are desperate to rid Britain of the immigrants want to get rid of them but don't want the Labour party to get the praise....Tough.. Because the Cons are now the opposition Party and ain't got no power or any say in the matter. lol.

When I saw gulliver's first post on the thread I thought the countries he mentioned were the ones that Starmer hasn't managed to visit yet.  About time he spent some time here putting right what he keeps saying the Tories got wrong instead of putting up the rate of global warming travelling around the world non stop.

These are enforced returns of failed asylum seekers, this happens every year so hardly unprecedented. There's nothing voluntary about it.

I think the report said an increase of 19% in deportations so not exactly earth-shattering.

If it was a huge success the gov would be crowing about it - they aren't...

If this happens every year that must mean that 10,000 are deported in any given three month period so why is this particular batch newsworthy?  Numbers might be up slightly but  it's clearly nothing new and this government has done little more than any other government.

I’ve not been able to find a breakdown of the current figures and the most recent ones are for the year ending June 2024.

There are three categories of “returns”. They are “Enforced”, “Voluntary” and “Port” (refused entry to the UK and have left).

The figures for each are,

Enforced 7,190

Voluntary 22,361

Port 23,677

It's not just (or even) about their contribution to the economy, there are many other factors to consider.
