//Cash use in the shops rose for a second year in a row after a decade of falls, according to retailers.

Notes and coins were used in a fifth of transactions last year, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) said, as shoppers found cash helped them to budget better.//

I've heard it said that beggars on the street will pull out a card machine when you say you've got no change.

Some do have card machines, they know it makes sense 😬

Havant railway station has a weird feature. The café on platform 2 will only take cards, and the one on platform 1 will only take cash.  The same franchise operates both sites.

Comeback? It's never gone away. I always use cash when going out shopping or dining.

I've made a fair bit of easy money over the years just by using my credit card.  Never paid a penny in interest or fees.

I use cash to pay my window cleaner, taxi drivers and the man who mows my lawn. The last remaining bank in my town closed last week. I have to drive 15 miles to get cash now.

I use my debit card without thinking really. I used to be so careful with my money. What was in my wallet had to last all week.

Barry, how do you make money by using your credit card?

You could get cashback from a local shop, Cloverjo

Same here, and I don't drive. Fortunately Tesco and Sainsbury mini-supermarkets within walking distance have (free to use) cash machines.

Cloverjo, I took out this credit card years ago and they give me Tesco points on all my spending.

I've never paid any interest on my credit card in all the many years I've had it.  It's the other way round, they pay me depending of course on how much I've spent. It's not a lot, it's paid once a year straight into my account.

Should have said that I clear what I've spent every month.

Same as that, lb

I always pay off my credit card bill every month. Why am I not getting money or Tesco points? I have a Mastercard.

You said you got Tesco points Barry, I never did.

Mine is a Nationwide Credit Card Clover.

I tendto use card at supermarkets and cash for everything else. E.G. Hairdresser (£40) is cash only as is the local shop.

Mine is a Tesco card, I get about £300 in Tesco vouchers every year.  Free money. It used to be more when we were driving a lot more than we do now.

I use it everywhere, for everything

I have reported your defamatory post - don't do it again.

Some shops near here will only take cash. Cash has never gone away for me. I have debit and credit cards but rarely use them. I've used my credit card only three times this year and I have a zero balance. The DC is used a bit more, but not much more. Cash for me!
