Do you think that offensive? I often read reports in the press describing people of that age as elderly, frail, vulnerable when they've been scammed or attacked. The World Health  Organisation and United Nations state old age is 60+.

The NHS says 65+

I'm not to proud to benefit from concessions for pensioners.  Every cloud 😁

why would someone get offended at being called old? it happens to everyone who lives long enough.

unfortunately old people are vulnerable to making mistakes and one of the most common is that they expect the world to remain like the one that they understand. it doesn't.

And one of the most common mistakes made is stating that old people expect the world to remain like the one that they understand. They don't.

And how old are you, untitled?

You didn't say old you said extremely old which shows your pre-conceived idea of what that age bracket onwards is. As it probably aplies to 80% of this site membership I'm surprised you even try to discuss your extreme views with such vulnerable, frail (according to barry) dementia round the corner has-beens.

I may be old, but there's nothing extreme about my age.

It's those extremely young folk,  who've yet to trigger their pension, who think that all attempted change is good and to be supported.

She is a Tory Baroness just like Baroness Mone, they think they are privileged people and can do anything they want to.Can't wait for Labour to bring Baroness Money in front of the Beak.

i thought all pension age people were now super super vulnerable cause they are missing out on £15pm wfa?  that's what ive been hearing on here anyway!

in any case, this is not humerous andhasnt been for years -around 20 years ago there was a furore regarding shilpa "poppadum" shetty and jade goody

If he was worthy of the title he would have laughed it off with some witty remark, which would have given him some esteem, instead he will henceforth be 'Lord Popadum'.

I have known & liked many Indians & have travelled extensively in India. Indians have a lot of good qualities, but what they don't have is a sense of humour.

"And one of the most common mistakes made is stating that old people expect the world to remain like the one that they understand. They don't."

some do i'm afraid. it is possible to overcome with some effort and self awareness but some elderly people do not bother.

"And how old are you, untitled? "

none of your business pasta

"As it probably aplies to 80% of this site membership I'm surprised you even try to discuss your extreme views "

is there any reason i shouldn't?

TBF I don't think it was Lord "poppadom" himself that kicked up the stink. As usual offence would have been taken on his behalf...

Others on the committee confronted her over the remarks, including Labour MP Bell Ribeiro-Addy, the report heard.

I don't think anyone can consider themselves old until they are 80 nowadays.  Considering many are now living to over 100 years old that makes sense.  My own mother died at a few months over 100 and her mother died in 1983 at 98.

Age isn't a number.  I know 20 year olds who are knocking 90 and 90 year olds who are going on 20.   Regardless of years some people are always old and others always young.  It's all in the head.

^That said, with age comes experience - and that is only acquired through the passing years.  It's called living and learning.

I somehow thing one or two on here wont ever to the last bit.

"Age isn't a number" is the sort of thing that old people say

With your many daily posts of doom and gloom, what would you expect?

That article itself is a joke isn't it?

I don't think they would have hired Bernard Manning for the Christmas cabaret if he was around!😄
