Do you mean like a Mac Naomi?
If so, I have had 3 different Macs in the last 24 yers and I just love the neatness of them. No speakers, towers or other peripherals taking up valuable desk space. Wouldn't want to go back to the old type.

I've been using them for 30 years and find them very convenient and easy to use. (I can't compare with separate component ones as I have no experience of such).

The obvious pros I can think of are convenience, and possibly footprint. All-in-one is a bit of a misnomer, you still have separate peripherals (printer, hard disk, scanner, etc.).

The only con I can think of is repair/replacement if they fail, they're a bit cumbersome to take to a repair shop (I've only had to do it once however).

Sorry for paucity of response, perhaps others will provide further enlightment.

Ferlew: Mac were the forerunners, others now do them (google allinone computers)

what do you mean "all in one"? a laptop?

I have had two 24" Windows all in ones. I like them, my current one is wall mounted so takes up little space.

The only downside is there is little space to upgrade as you can with a desktop although I have added an internal SSD and extra RAM to mine.

I bought my first one around 13 years ago, it still works well.

Desktop TTT.

No I dont.  This sort of thing has been around for years always the issue with combining it altogether is if something goes wrong the whole lot has to go, unless you can fix them yourself - although even then parts would usually have to be from the company rather than generic.

There is also often an issue with heat and with power sources meaning they are less powerful than the desktop alternative (much like a Laptop).

Also, if like me, you use multiple screens they are not all too keen on it, although some do - but then you have rather defeated the purpose.

Best solutoin(IMHO) is what I have.  A large curved monitor with usbc which drives the screen and power to the laptop, the dongle sits in the USBA in the monitor for the keybaord and mouse.  Then everyone can come aloong plug the usbc into their laptopn and immediately up and running.

In the downstairs office I have the other alternative that is a dual screen with docks.  The dongle for the keyboard/mouse lives in the dock.  Again anyone in the house can simply plug in and go.

TTT, it looks like a monitor, all the components are behind the screen.

When I next by a PC it will be a mini PC that I will attach to the back of a large monitor

Technology has shrunk and improved, you can buy very powerful mini pcs, laptops and all in one desktops these days.

I see so the opposite of "all in one" - it's a small box that you plug all the peripherals into. I have one I don't mind it, cheap as chips and does the job, I could do with more USB slots in mine but appart from that fine. 2 screens, proper mouse, keyboard. Before that I did the same but with a laptop in a docking station, that went kapput so I got the desktop. It's a small cuboid 6x6x4, does the job and would for most.

My all in one is 24".

A mini PC is not an all in one.

TTT, I don't know what you mean when you say 'the opposite of all in one.'  I'm asking about all in one desktops.

Both of mine are very easy to open up, just slide the back panel off. Handy for blowing out the fans and replacing/upgrading components

I thought you meant something like this:

https://tinyurl.com/52s27jes

That's a mini PC, no more all in one than a full size tower

11:55 so that's basically a screen with a PC built in. Do not touch with a bargepole, very expensive. You still need a keyboard/mouse really. Yes they are probably a touch screen but they are hopeless really. Ok on a phone but not for real computing. The best way is get a desk top like in 12:01, proper keyboard and mouse and one very wide screen as suggested by YMB.

barry: "That's a mini PC, no more all in one than a full size tower " - hence 11:51

My desktop is quite old and needs replacing.  I just wondered if the all in ones are better for any reason.  I think I'll stick to the usual.  Thanks for your help all.
