This is only new to those who don't understand Islam. I've been saying for years on these very pages that for devout Muslims, Islam takes precedence over absolutely everything - and I've been consistently shouted down. We often hear that an atrocity has been committed by a 'home grown' Muslim - the latest in New Orleans - thereby apparently vindicating immigrants - but it doesn't matter. It's all one and the same. Islam means 'submission' - and patriotism isn't its priority. Ever. That needs to be understood. Look at the state N Ireland was in. I experienced catholic and protestant schools in my childhood; they weren't teaching terrorism, but they certainly reinforced the gulf between the two sides. To us protestants the catholic kids were a sort of different tribe because we didn't meet then on a daily basis, and the religious practices seemed to be a mystery, and even rather scary.
