Mother Jailed For Manslaughter Of Four Children
From the BBC website: Two sets of twins aged 3 and 4 left alone in a locked house whilst their mother went shopping, died in a fire. The house is said to have been filthy. Poor little kids. She has been jailed for ten years but is that a fitting sentence?
Sorry, I can't post a link. Perhaps someone else will oblige.

As usual so many unanswered questions and missed opportunities. Tragic.
No of course not, there isn't really an answer to this is there. You'd be better placed to make an informed comment on this, prison in this case is just pure punishment and she's probably not quite all there. I'm guessing she's not going to get a nice reception either..
Always in these cases other family members express their loss and grief. If there was a father and grandmother that are so devastated why didn't they do something about these poor children living in a house strewn wiith rubbish and excrement. It's obvious she was a totally unfit mother.

Why would I be better placed to make an informed comment?
I would (and have never) left young children alone to start with.
Like the Southport killer, I dont envy what she is going to now have to endure.
10 years is not enough but it will feel a 100 years from her side of the eyes.
A bit of an aside from parents killing (allbeit acccidentally) their children, this is my sons childhood friend who killed her mother.
Not surprised really, she was (the mother) a right nut job

“Is a little life only worth 2 and a half years each?”
Actually it’s a bit less than that. She will serve six years and eight months in prison (less 57 days which are deemed served as she spent 114 days on remand subject to curfew).
So about six and a half years - or a little under 20 months for each child..
we have had quite a lot on sentencing on AB - most of it ignored
manslaughter - when you do not intend serious harm ( but may forsee it) - honestly it is all more of the same
sentnecing council has guidelines and there is very little judicial disretion
(because heretofore the judges went kinda mad with their gavel an screamng - -- rumpole and judgitis
