Yes, I do believe he is.

He is wrecking the country, by the time he has got to the end of the 5 years the UK will be finished.  Not far off now.

I am anticipating the next government will have a lot of cleaning up to do. The problem is that new governments tend to leave the mess previous ones have inflicted, and start their own layer of mire to dump on the citizens.

The way this bunch are behaving I'm not entirely sure we'll get the opportunity to elect a next government.

Naomi, are you suggesting that the govt is intending to do away with our ancient system of general elections? Obviously Trump is hoping to do just that, but I don't see Starmer as a wannabee dictator for life.

What rot, Trump isnt hoping to do that at all.

And yes, this lot are quite capable.  Lets see if we get the local elections.

Khandro,

Some element of truth here but I'm surprised you take it all as gospel.

On second thoughts, judging by some of your comments elsewhere, I'm not.

I haven't been following the possibility of the local elections being cancelled - what's the rationale?

I heard a caller on the radio a few weeks ago making the point that Johnson also cancelled local elections, as though to make a point, but conveniently failed to mention we were in lockdown at the time - thankfully the presenter picked him up on it.

TCW (Conservative Woman?) strikes me as a nutters rag. The link leads to an article full of accusations without any supporting evidence.

^^ Atheist. Here we go, - 'shoot the messenger'.                  Which assertion in that article do you challenge its basis in facts ?

"...what's the rationale?"

There is to be a reorganisaion of local government with more devolution and elected mayors. Apparenly there is no point in bothering with the tiresome task of running elections until that is completed:

Why are you unsure? Is it because you think he might do away with general elections?

I don't know what he'll do, atheist.

//Is it because you think he might do away with general elections?//

Wouldnt put it past Kneeler, only way he will cling to power.

As I say, lets see if we get local elections or will some 'excuse that will never come to fruition' be given?

Wrong thread khandro?

JDavis, what have you picked out as "some element of truth"?

I agree Starmer wasn't upfront about the winter fuel allowance, for example, and he did cultivate a certain image to get elected, but this is entirely normal behaviour for politicians.

Most of this article is conjecture or scaremongering and bringing up a work camp visit from 1986 is desperate stuff.

i know a fair bit about communism and i do not think starmer is one.

Starmer is duplicitous.  You'd be hard pushed to guarantee what he is.

Unlike your hero, eh, Naomi?
