Would a reasonable wife be offended?
Les us assume a wife tells her husband (sitting in an armchair, facing telly) that she wants to talk to him. He answers "just make your point quickly". If you were the wife, would you be cross?

And....everyone knows that when a conversation starts with I would like to talk to you that it is not likely to be something pleasant....
Hope it works out for you.
I would be offended! We don't have a telly per se, but I get the same thing with my husbands infernal Blackberry....."Yes yes what is it? I'm re-organising my in-box/emailing India/checking the outage...."and so on.
Sometimes I could swing for him and I fear my aim might be mercilessly accurate.
I know how you feel.
it was rude yes, but was it his favourite show? was it half way through and he was enjoying it? in that case you were rude too.
If you do it then, you have instantly got his back up - he knows he's in for a telling off or a nagging or whatever and is instantly going to be on the defensive
whatever you had to say has already got off to a bad start and is not going to be resolved and likely to turn into a row.
Though it does depend on how urgent the talk is - can it wait 10 minutes until the end of the show? or is it life and death urgent?

you have to read men are from mars, women are from venus.it will explain everything.in a nutshell, men are completely different from us.when we want to "talk" they usually arent in that mode.its not that they dont care.its just not the right time for him.i would have taken that personally too, beleive me, but after reading that book, i must admit, in theory i can understand men a little better.I wont go into it anymore in case i get anyone's hackles up lol.
Aside from the flowery 'Men are from Mars ...' crap (they're not, it's just their excuse for being *********), even if you WERE interrupting his favourite TV show or whatever, it wouldn't have taken much effort on his part to politely say "I'm really engrossed in this programme right now, do you mind if it waits ten minutes?".
In this house I'd have got really annoyed that he didn't drop everything when I asked him to, but then that's just because I'm unreasonable by nature.
