goverment
Theirs many debates on the goverment be it new labour, conservatives, libs, & other parties, who's policies are right/wrong etc, and their views/policies are questioned/debated by all.
Hypothetical question, you became prime minister today, was allowed to change law, legislation, policies etc.
which 3 would you change that would in your view benefit the uk.
i'm sure something similar along these lines as been posted before, but seeing i'm a relatively new AB would appreciate your comments.
i,m not the political motive type but do have my views.
Thanks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.1. Withdraw from the EU and revert to our original trading agreements. Stop paying of course.
2. Enforce the already existing law (adopt it as we are now non EU) that assylum seekers apply for asylum at the first safe country, this will mean in 99% of cases sending them back to France and the French can then send them back in turn until they are in the first safe country.
3. Remove concurrent sentencing for crime and at the same time remove remission. Time on for bad behaviour rather than time off for good.
1. Increase the number of police by 30%.
2. Reduce the reliance on local authorities by allowing more schools to opt out.
3. For those schools that choose to remain within the state sector, increase funding by 30%.
Fund this by increasing the basic level of tax by 1% and eliminating some of the tax loop holes which allow big businesses to offset their tax liabilities (onto us).
4. I would also make Jordan and Jodie Marsh illegal.
!) I would bring in the death penalty for certain crimes like peddling crack or heroin, and taking any sort of gun on a crime.
2) I would get VERY strict on illegal immigrants, fake asylum seekers, and reduce legal immigration to a trickle until we have sorted out the current immigration problems.
3) Come out of the EU. We could stop paying them vast amounts of money, and agreeing to take workers from Poland, Lativa and all sorts of other countries in the EU.
veryhelpfulguy - the migrant workers from the Eastern Bloc countries do the jobs we would turn our noses up at.They never skive, are at their workplace ahead of time and work their butts off.Pity a lot of people, who have never had it so good.didnt follow their work ethic. These people are paying tax and NI to subsidise the wasters in our country. How many people who either came from India,Pakistan or were born here to parents who had are on the dole? Not as much as the toerags whose only arguement is that their Great Grandad paid his taxes so why shouldnt they live off the state Instead of slagging off the EU you all should be glad we are a part of it - we could actually learn a thing or two.
There is no such thing as a GREAT Britain. We are the laughing stock and we are about to get a wake up call.
I have to hold my hand up and say that I've used Eastern European workers three times in the past year (moving house, decorating etc) and found them to be like British workers in the 1950s.
They were, frankly...amazing. Polite professional and reasonably priced.
If British workmen could raise their game, no-one would use Eastern Europeans, but...
Now I've totally forgotten my point...suffice to say, they rocked.
Drisgirl, if we are a "laughing stock" it's because we are full of people like you who hate us from with in, we are because we pay 1billion a month into the anti British EU so they can shaft us at every oportunity, we are because we are so full of PC plonkers trying to stop us "offending" anyone, we are because we allow religious nutters to form a cancerous invasion . What would we have to do to not be a "laughing stock" in your eyes? Oh yes I know prostrate ourselves in front of our enemies and finally surrender our way of life to the corrupt amorphorism across the channel. Because of people like you they are doing to us in peace time what they couldn't do in war. Why do you hate it here so much?
Loosehead - for a start I am the only one allowed to have a rant on AB.
I am under the impression our courageous men and women fought and some ultimately gave their lives so future generations would not only have freedom but freedom of speech.
We are a 'laughing stock' precisely because of your manic pontifications in the middle of your response and also because we are eons behind - retarded if you like.
I dislike living here so much I am moving to a European country which has a 3% mortgage rate.I currently pay 130 per month for Council Tax - their equivelent is 40 per annum. The food is excellent and a third of the price we pay.Fags (I dont smoke) are 1.50 a pack.Beer - 6 large bottles 1.50.Healthy outdoor lifestyle.
In conclusion - we are the mugs.
Just for you - big up the BNP
Well if it's France it's 33% income tax! So you prefer a direct taxation approach, fine, your choice.
So they're "manic pontifications" if they are true and you have no argument against them, I just love the Europhile approach, if you don't agree then you must be a retard!
Will a Europhile just once tell me a tangible benefit that we get from surrender to the EU that we can't get by adhering to our initial trading agreements.
Why are we eons behind what do we have to do to catch up?
I agree we are mugs, we pay 1bn a month to a corrupt club! That's a fairly strong indicator!
You haven't told me how we stop being "mugs" or a "laughing stock"
That's fine if the BNP will have you, that's also your choice.
Loosehead - calm your jets man.
Its not France - so do your homework.
I dont affiliate myself to the BNP in any shape or form.
We should accede and become part of the EU full-time instead of on a part-time basis. It makes sense to have a strong united currency - do you think the rest of the EU who have converted are worse off than us?I can assure you they are not.We are scavenging within our own economy to rob Peter to pay Paul.If you can honestly say that your heart doesnt sink when there is a budget then I would dispute that with you.
I was a retard but saw the light - hence the reason why I am moving to a country with a more stable economy, which is not afraid of change.
If I am a Europhile then I am proud to have Scotland as my heritage and to also be part of Europe.I am also proud to be forwardthinking.
"It's not France - do your homework"
What does that mean? I just thought it might be France You didn't say where, so what Homework would you like me to do, mind reading?
"I don't affiliate myself to the BNP in any shape or form"
Then why did you introduce it into the conversation?
No, I'm not generally happy with the budget, are you saying that they are in the rest of the EU?
The economy is like it is because we have too large a public sector with zillions being pi55ed away on all sorts of unnecessary things, the EU being a good example. However when it comes to econimic incompetance we are amatuers compared to the EU. 40Billion so that French farmers don't block the roads. Countless billions spent on unnecessary nepotistic jobs and of course the Daddy, the EU commision now in it's eleventh year without being able to find an accountant in the EU that'll verify their accounts. Yep we should really sign up for that!
What utter rubbish from Drisgirl. "Immigrant workers from the Eastern Bloc do jobs that we would turn our noses up at" How do you justify that statement? What jobs are they doing that British people won't do?
There are millions of low paid British people working in catering, cleaning, warehousing, recreation etc. The average wage for a fork lift truck driver, for instance, is around 14K per annum. By the standards of this country, that is low.
Eastern Bloc immigrants think that is wonderful compared to what they would earn in their own country. British employers love them, because in coming to this country, they are the keeping the wages of British people below the average.
You want to get your head out of the papers Drisgirl. Have a look round you and see the real world. Not what it says in The Sun.
3 things I would do:
1. make all MP's attend the Houses of Parliament Monday to Thursday, attending parliamentary sessions, and remove whips from the parties, allowing free votes and debates on all acts presented to the house. Fridays, make them return to their constituencies and hold surgeries with their constituents, so they deal with issues of their constituents.
2. introduce foreign language teaching into primary schools, and teach them Spanish from the age of 5 or 6, and reduce the number of weeks of school holidays in the year to 7 weeks in total.
3. do away with "life" sentences, and have a minimum of say 60 years for murder etc, with no parole until 1/3rd of sentence served. If aproled and they commit any offence, then parole be revoked and they serve remainder of sentence.
3.
I was gonna ignore the biased comments towards me.I do not as a rule make personal jibes at people but I am up for a healthy debate.
Mr,Tamzarian (hope I got that right).
I live in an area of Scotland which has latterly relied solely on students from Eastern Bloc countries to harvest our fruit. The money they earn enables them to fulfil their dream of paying for an education in order to further themselves. We have got to know them personally over the years and they are hard-working decent people who now contribute towards our NI contributions.
I mentioned that they do jobs we wouldnt do,apart from the above, they work in the local Chicken Factory doing the really base jobs which I would prefer not to go into, but locals would rather be on the dole than do them.
I cleaned and wiped up sh!te,worked in a Care Home and had to maintain the dignity of poor souls who had messed during the night. It will be me one day.
And yet because I have an opinion you see fit to slag me.That is not a healthy debate - that IMO reeks of someone who cant discuss an issue without it becoming personal.
At least loosehead gave me the courtesy of having a discussion with me without resorting to personal sleights. We differ but thats healthy.
Read my post again Drisgirl. I have not made ANY personal comments about you. I have made statements about things you said.
You don't have a monopoly on such jobs. My sister worked in chicken factory. It was part of her job to kill them. My nephew is a slaughterman, but would you beleive, this is becoming a rarity due to meat imports from Eastern Euope.
Two relatives of mine work in care homes, on nights, and do the work that you describe.
I do know what I'm talking about.
The students you mention are very fortunate to be able to get their university education in this country. when they get their degrees, you probably won't see them again when they return to their own country to take the best jobs there.
Just comfort yourself with the fact that you (and me) have paid for that.
Mr T -First sentence and last remark were personal jibes. That is what I was referring to I cannot recall having any negative discourse with you before so that is what amazed me.
I differ with my husband but I dont come out with negative personal comments at the time and I know him.
I have said before I shouldnt really be contributing to this site as I suspect that as people hide behind their user name they think they have free rein to insult people.I take it way too personally and you werent to know that.
