I have actually just discovered it!!! Poor researching skills by me. Though I will ask a question about doctors and physician assisted suicide. With Lord Joffe's bill at the moment do you think that we need Assisted dying for terminally ill people?

Shipman was granted his choice of meals on his first night of prison.

He opted for a curry, when asked if it was satisfactory, he replied "It was OK, but i could have murdered a naan".

stobok - I firmly believe in assisted dying for terminally ill people.In saying that I think whilst we are all of sound mind we should make our wishes known e;g DNR and certainly not to prolong my life, only to make my last hours, days comfortable.Doctors do that off the record anyway and it is an act of supreme humanity and kindness.

Shipman was a junkie,a fraudster, an ace manipulator and ultimately a murderer.

So in my opinion - Shipman , although he would make an excellent dissertation topic was not a Doctor - he was a murderer who disguised himself as a GP.

My dissertation is actually on Lord Joffe's Assisted dying for the terminally ill bill and i wanted to know about Shipman as it is possible that he is too fresh in the minds of the public and the atmosphere will mean the bill will not be successful. The whole thing is very interesting indeed, everytime i read another piece of evidence my opinion shifts! It hink it is really important that we discuss the issues though but it has to be really carefully done so that people like Shipman cannot use the legislation to his own ends
