Forgive me ABers but I have sinned. I listenend to the new Neil Diamond album last night (12 songs) on the basis that is was produced by Rick Rubin and found it so good that I have just bought it.I thought It'd just be a bit kitsch like his other stuff but it isn't.....I feel quite dirty having listened to the greats like Floyd, Dylan, Talking Heads, Stones etc for years.

I feel I can confess this to you guys as I don't think my mates would be so understanding.

My question to you guys.....what music is your guilty pleasure? You know what I'm on about....the band or artist you secretly enjoy, but don't tell anyone about!!!!!!!

I listen to Fleetwood Mac and ELO and no one understands me.... I'm proud of it tho... they're the one's missing out!! x

Neil Diamond is a lyrical genius. the man can and has wrote songs about whatevey you can think of.. most of his writing is about his past experiences... BRILL !

Heh, what a great thread! I'll confess to a long-held sneaking regard for ELO as well, and when the "knowledgeable" music critics recently started rediscovering the work of 10cc and Godley & Creme recently, I'll admit to allowing myself a bit of a smug grin.

I also think country music gets an unfairly bad press in the UK. Yes, there are some real clunkers (anyone remember Billy Ray Cyrus? Yikes!), but I'll defend the likes of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and my own personal favourite, Emmylou Harris, to my last breath.

Last week i downloaded 'captain of her heart', cant remember singer, really cheesy from the 70's/80's and my daughter came in the room when it was on. i usually listen to Ibiza/House stuff and i got caught rotton. she switched it off in disgust and asked why i was listening to such absolute crap!!! i didnt have an answer..just a red face...i did listen again though!! hehe

try some real deep down gritty country rock or some old american folk and bluegrass. some the music has been handed down from gen' to gen' , and is quite astounding.
