Do you mean Jan Moir on the back page alibobs?
I don't think it's an April fool ..these restaurants do exist.
The restaurant review is straight. However, have a look at the photograph of Jack Straw and Condoleeza Rice on the front page. Why are the bottoms of his trouser legs turned up like that?
I just had a look Tatty.....
He looks as if he is wearing bicycle clips !!

Have we discovered something that will cause the CIA to take us to Washington and bombard us with millions of dollars to stay silent. Have we discovered the secret sign that indicates that Jack Straw is to be the next President of The United States? Take a look at this picture and in particular the left trouser bottom of President Woodrow Wilson. Is this this the secret sign? Are we to be rich beyond our dreams?

Well.. if his trouser leg was rolled up to his knee..I would start to worry !
Sorry alibobs ..we are going off topic here!

I looked up the restaurant on Google and wasn't convinced.

Looked up the street name - even less convinced.

Phoned up the number - totally unconvinced

Boiled Egg and Soldiers...definitely a restaurant.
Northcote Road is in Battersea SW11and this restaurant was definitely there the last time I was in that area as we used to live in Wimbledon. It's a cafe and isn't open in the evenings ..only until about 6pm.
The Olive Press definitely exists..they have a website and I have eaten in the Kings Head at Letheringsett and It wasn't a figment of my imagination.!

Shaneystar, I don't dispute the others but there is no mention of the restaurant babyland on Google & I couldn't find the street name either. Still not convinced!!!!!
Babyland !!
Must learn to read papers more thoroughly.Hundred lines for me.Yes ..that does look suspect .I was just looking at the actual reviews and I sort of glanced through the rest of it without it actually registering anything. After reading it properly (Lol) you are quite right..my sincere apologies.
A wind up ..definitely !
My apologies, Alibobs. I read just a little of it, saw what appeared to be a genuine address and then went on to something else. The reason that I thought it was straight is that I lived in New York for a long time, and at 81 East 6th Street there is such a themed well known restaurant called Babyland and I just assumed that it had been franchised in London. I say "is" but even that is wrong. Looking it up just before writing this I find that it is now a karaoke bar !! Wrong all round !! Never mind. I have decided that this is my absolute last visit to and posting on Answerbank so will not be around any more to mislead.
tatty, who will provide illustrations then?

Tatty, if you are still on line thenIi forgive you! Please do not stop posting on my account, i've even forgiven you for hijacking my thread!!!!!!!!

Shaneystar, I usually find your postings on the same wavelength as mine so was concerned that we had such differing views on this one. Glad that the status quo has been reinstated!

Oh Noooo...Tatty don't leave us in the lurch....we will miss all your piccies !
Gawd....I must learn to read posts as well as newspapers ..it's an age thing !
Alibobs..no problems ...I shall consider buying the Beano instead !! It may hold my attention better !
