That isn't meant to be sarcastic by the way, but it would remind youngsters for generations who he was and to follow in his sporting achievement footsteps and not the alcohol related ones.
That George Best was a flawed individual,is not in question. He battled against a disease which threatens all it's sufferers, all day every day.HOWEVER, George Best was not just a great footballer from the 70s...he represented to the people of Northern Ireland,of whom I am one, a reason to be proud of our country in those times when the rest of the world just looked on in horror. George never forgot his Belfast roots and did so much charity work here that a lot of people never knew about. So many people from here, had such memories of how generous he was with his time and thoughtfulness. The majority of people in N.I. are delighted with the decision about the airport.
Belfast has two airports:

Isn't it the City Airport which is the one in question here?
hi jules, whilst I didn't know the bloke personally it's reasonably well documented in a book and also a documentary called "The real john lennon", by Brian Moses.
It documented fairly clearly via interviews with his first wife cynthia, his son julian and friends of theirs that he treated both his wife and child very badly indeed, beating her and mentally and sometimes physically abusing his child.
Put me right off the creep to be honest and struck me as being true as it included interviews with his friends as well as hers, who confirmed what a class one a**e he was.He was a serious drug abuser at the time, it has to be remembered, but never the less, left him in a less than flattering light.
