So what's the question?
Oh that's a shame ...and at 65 hardly what you would call old! Sure he will be sadly missed by family and friends and fans around the world.

What a shock and with "only 24 hours to Tulsa".

Did anyone else record that (and have a hit) I wonder? Mind you, I can't imagine anyone else sining it but there again I can't imagine him singing anything else either.

no fagin I think that's a classic example of a song forever associated with one singer. No disrespect to Cardiff, but it must have seemed a long way from home for him. I remember a book called Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool, about the wonderful Gloria Grahame, who did just that.
Sorry, ianess, only just read the newspaper article (naughty me, cuz I get annoyed with people when they don't!) and it talks about some of his recordings. I didn't know Jagger/Richards had written for him. To think Pitney had to die for me to learn that!!!
Hi, jno. Now tell me, who wrote that book? I just lurve the title!!!

bonjour, Mme Fagin! It was written by Peter Turner, who I think was her last lover.

Here is a link

Doesn't say how he died - perhaps something gotten hold of his heart......
Luv that song!
Oh gosh how sad - another link to childhood gone.
That's a shock! Very distinctive voice, he'll be remembered for Somethings Gotta Hold of My heart twice i guess, who was it he did the duet with?
hi dot.hawkes,

wasn't it Marc Almond he did the duet with?
