True Colours!

This is annoying me now, so please can someone help.

I am trying to find out who originally sang true colours. I know Cyndie Lauper did a version but that isn't the soulful heart felt one i remember.

Song goes: I see your true colours, shining through, i see your true colours, and that's why i love you.....

I'm pretty sure Cyndi Lauper was the first artist to record True Colors. I know Phil Collins did a version (!) but somehow, I don't think that's the one you're looking for.

Whilst the song was written for Cyndi to sing, several artists have covered it since, maybe you just had the pleasure of hearing one of the lesser knowns first?

Eva Cassidy for example, did a beautiful version of it.

It was also covered by Kasey Chambers.
