Did I miss something over Xmas or is the pay dispute ongoing? If not then what happened?

It seems to have tailed off - I think they're happy with what they've been offered. Either that or they've got bored of standing out in the cold
They are still negotiating, with ACAS playing the middle-man. The press are having a field day over IRAQ/new years eve shootings, which is why you don't hear anything any more
The dispute is ongoing because the employers have not paid the money they agreed to in the pay deal. A meeting was set up to finalise the agreement but the employers refused to sign, despite writing it themselves. The firefighters have been paid less than half the money they were promised, and rightly so are a little be p***ed off.
