Tony gang needs a kick up the rear to get themselves sorted. It's happening at the right time. If they can learn from the mistakes of the last week, they will have enough time to sort themselves out and win at the next General Election (2009?).
Loved Patty Hewitt and the nurses. Best comedy since 'Phoenix Nights'.
The Tories should be absolutely caning Labour in the opinion polls, but they aren't...possibly because they have clearly communicated what they stand for.
David Cameron has given plenty of indications as to what he doesn't stand for...but they need to spell out why they should be elected...rathert than why Labour shouldn't be elected.
I'd never vote Tory, but I think we need a strong opposition. It's good for democracy and all that.
ianess, Loosehead and I are currently building a big wall. Gonna need one. How about a advertising in the guardian for some trigger pullers !!!
Loosehead to answer your question. I dont think there is any doubt about it, and lets not forget that Kinnock has just been banned for speeding yet again.
There is a whiff of the 1990's for New Labour.
Looks like the BNP will be laughing all the way to the council hall.
Well I thuoght you last accused the Labour party of being responsible for the BNP.
Now it seems that the fault is with moderate Tories.
Frankly - I don't think you can blame moderate liberal policy for rabid right wing lunatics.
Changing your politics to stop extreminst is appeasment - that's generally taken to be a bad thing
1) you clearly did not read the post yesterday correctly nor the other clarification Loosehead gave.
2) Its not moderate liberal policy is it ? Its extreme liberal policy for minorities
3) It would not be changing your policy to appease extremists it appears that a large portion of the population are looking in that direction. Unless of course large numbers consitute the extreme view in your eyes.
I will repeat. It is the extreme liberal policies that are appeasing a MINORITY of people that are p*ssing off the majortiy. As both parties seem to have been hijacked by these so called elite liberals (who have their head stuck so far up their a*se it must be pitch black) there is little opportunity for the MAJORITY to have their opinions represented. They will therefore turn to parties that promise (not I did not say give since I seem to have to spell everything out to you) what they want.
You cannot ignore what the Majority of hard working people want. They want strong family values, law and order and fairness to all. I do not beleive you will get this with the current two major parties.
Beleive me - I do not want the BNP in at all but if people like you cant see it they will make significant gains. Then god(if there is one) help us all.
To answer your question, I think its only a partial meltdown, which unfortunate, seeing what they are doing to this country.
Also, I believe, that they do have a fair to middling chance of winning the next General Election, because they'll have the Scottish vote, not forgetting, that that is the only reason they won last time
Lonnie.........with any luck Labour's supporters in Scotland will start to see through them....but in all honesty just what is there to choose between any of the major parties? Their only policy seems to be to attack the opposition no matter what.
The Scottish Holyrood elections next year will introduce a type of proportional representation which might [don't count on it] mean that they have to work TOGETHER for a change.
What type of democracy is wanted or needed, if at all?
