It's only then that a younger generation can start to relate to their parents on equal ground and with more mature insight This child will never be able to do that with either parent. It will never be able to introduce its children to "Granny and Grandad" and a further generation will be robbed of its living heritage.
And equally bad, a young inexperienced adult, may end up with the living nightmare of having to cope with elderly parents, possibly with Alzeimers and possibly be forced to give up studying for a degree and jeopardising its future to care for them. And poor child - just think how it's going to feel at school with such elderly parents
I am not for it I'm afraid
I agree with your points re the energy issue and the child facing a life without parents if they die - but I personally think its even more distressing and harmful to the childs mental wellbeing to have to cope with a senile or dementia ridden parent. My nan went from being perfectly healthy to complete dementia ridden in about 8 months and no-one saw it coming. This was very distressing for me and I am 27. I know this couple already have 2 children but is it fair to leave them to have to cope with all this when they have lives of their own?
I know this might not happen but the possibilities at their age is incredibly high and I don't personally think its worth the risk.
This couple say that they have ensured there child will be 'cared for' if anything was to happen but I think anyone that has lost a parent/s would give up all the wealth or possesions in the world to have them back.
