After reading all these answers I am sitting here appalled with my mouth hanging open (except for you Gary Baldy.) I do a lot of work with immigrants and asylum seekers in Barking and Dagenham and the results of the election and the comments posted on this site scare the bejesus out of me.

Lily - totally agree with you. As someone said last week - voting for the BNP is a bit like being worried about burglars and turning to the mafia to protect their houses.

I seriously feel worried for any non-white person living in Barking & Dagenham. It's almost like these results have legitimized open racism.

I think it's great, although I'd hate them in power. The vocal majority that sit on the left wing, living in their softly softly world, money for gay and lesbian clubs, despising the silent white majority really get my goat. It's about time that we started getting vocal and they started to live in the real world, bl**dy guardian reading social workers - get a proper job!
