Did Brown say the Gascoigne goal was his favourite
So was Alex Samond right?. Did Gordon Brown say that the Gascoigne goal against Scotland is his favourite and does Brown have the English flags fluttering in his car and homes in England and Scotland.

It's fine for England to support Scotland as we're a neighbour but not a rival. Scotland are never going to deny England winning anything. We're merely a tiny wee rubbishy football team that happens to play nearby.
The reverse of the coin, however, isn't true. Scotland see England as a neighbour and as a rival. We don't support England, partly because they're a threat to us winning anything.
The same logic applies between, say, Man U and Chelski fans. Man U fans would watch a Chelsea v Stockport game and cheer for Stockport as that'd mean their rival suffers defeat. Man U would never realistically feel threatened by a surge in fortunes for Stockport.
It's all about friendly rivarly. And the media!
(And that Gazza goal was an absolute cracker.)
