My brother needs a job - any advice?!

I have a brother who is 23... He worked in a pub previously but left that and has since become a bum!

He had a great job as a London Underground Apprentice in Engineering but left due to shitty hours.

He's got no ambition and lacks confidence. he's a decent looking chap and is intelligent when he feels to show that side!

Anyone got any ideas of what he can do? Or what sort of job he can get??

Maybe his lack of ambition and confidence is due to depression caused by not working? Just a theory...

I should imagine that there are plenty of jobs he could do - maybe he could temp for a while to gain experience and a feeling of self-worth. Failing that, he could start training again. A lot of colleges have free or low-cost courses for people who aren't working. Sorry, probably not much help - good luck!

No thanks for your advice purplelily - you're right about him being depressed because of lack of work....

Well there's no excuse for him not getting a job in London - there are loads of opportunities!

Just an idea but what about a minicab driver or delivery driver for a private firm, he could gain confidence talking to his passengers/customers and take it from there. He could work hours to suit himself too.

How about training to become a car mechanic? I imagine he's already done some kind of practical work as part of his training. Maybe he could contact all the local garages. The servicing departments attached to the big car dealers might be a good place to start. Some of them might offer some kind of apprenticeship.
