Random men asking out women
21 Answers
For the ladies:
Would you ever agree to go out with a man who asked you out randomly in a store or on the street? I have been asked out 3 times this past week by completely random men (2 were store clerks, one was in an elevator) and I would never give my number to a complete stranger like that. Are there women out there who do?

Usually the blokes use the line of " I don't usually approach women here, Its just that there is something special about you" Which I assume I am usually the 30th women they have pulled that on, on their little flirting expenditure. Perhaps if they were genuine and being sweet it would be something I would miss out on, but thats a risk i'd take :)
I made the mistake of going on a date with a guy I met while I was working, He turned out to be somebody I would never date and I couldnt wait to get home. It also took me about 2 weeks to blow him off. My advice would be not to just take a date from anybody.
PS and not to mention how dangerous that was for me.

I've asked 2 girls out like this in my life - I'm certainly not a 30 a day man! In both cases I thought that there was simply no other way of doing it, although both said no by the way. I've also never heard of any of my friends being succesful in that way.
I am thinking of doing it again with girl who gets on my train every morning but I properly need to pysch myself up first over the next week or so. I just can't see any way in at all.

Jennykins, I have to say that I did think the rather filthier meaning of 'blow him off' also, but that's just my dirty mind ;o)
Drestie, I would defo NOT go out on a date with a random guy who asked me not matter how good looking or charming he was. For one, he must be full of himself to even contemplate it and in turn how desperate would you look accepting?
Too many nutjobs out there anyway, it could be a disaster waiting to happen.
You did the right thing, tell him to try getting to know someone a bit better first of even better, tell him you swing the other way - that will teach him for being so presumtious!

Well that's put paid to the idea of me EVER asking out a stranger on the street!
I'll just wait for the perfect woman to fall into my lap then? Or hope that the new girl at work fancies me or hopefully I get introduced to someone.
Hell, if you don't ask, you don't get! If you never meet anyone in other circumstances other than being introduced by friends, family or work then everyone will miss out!

I'm with you Chappers, if you don't ask you don't get! I actually find it easier to ask complete strangers out on dates, i'll never see them again if they say no so i can ask and ask till someone says yes without looking desperate. I once asked out a barlady at a small private function, she said no all night long but i kept asking her anyway and at the end of the night she came up to me and gave me her number, we were together for about 4months, and it was one of the cleanest breaks i've ever had in a relationship. I also stopped a girl in the street once and asked her to smile for me to brighten up my day, we got talking and exchanged numbers, we dated for about 5 months. And another time within the first hour at a new job a girl asked me for my number, and we ended up dating for 3months. Ah memories...i'm away up town to stop another stranger in the street!
I am a naturally cautious type of person, safety first and all that - but I would entertain the idea of not saying no to someone straight off the bat.
Have you never locked eyes with someone and wondered about it afterwards.?
I have not lost faith in the human race due to flakes and nut jobs. I am sure that there are thirty a day guys ( if anyone ever saw Manhattan on the Beach , I offer you Daniel as exhibit A ) but there have to be other decent people out there too! Go for a coffee at a pre arranged time etc etc and then make a judgement call!

i suspect some of them have been watching romcoms and thing if they act a bit carefree, zany and bold it will all work out happily ever after.
i was once followed up and down a street, during a kind of street festival thing - i could see him behind me as i looked in shop windows, i deliberately didn't look at him and when a vaguely glanced in his general direction he spoke but i pretended i hadn't noticed him
eventually after about two laps he gave up and i saw him later do it to someone else. creepy little weirdo
i think it would be a lovely thing to happen and work out but sometimes its just creepy
i would have to judge the situation carefully.
i find the ones that say 'hello pretty, or hello gorgeous are an instant turn off.
so is the fake shyness, when you can tell they are very bold and arrogant really

Clappers - why would you want to ask out a woman you have never met or ever heard speak? I just don't get it.
I'm not talking about a colleague or someone you meet in a bar or anything - just talking about walking up to a random stranger and asking her out.
This last guy who asked me out was behind the key-making counter at my hardware store. I said 'hi' and he immediately asked me out. Baffling.
Never mind the fact that now I am now freaked out about him having a copy of my house key (even though he probably can't figure out where I live).

I was once sat on a bus and some guy with long hair was sat behind me watching me all the way home, when i got up to get off, he got up and shouted down the bus s'cuse me you've dropped your ticket (no i hadn't) and he passed me a bus ticket with little round pieces from the free newspaper page numbers torn out to make up a telephone number stuck on with chewing gum! i thought it was dead sweet and inventive, i kept that ticket for ages (lost it now) never phoned it though! Similar thing happened to me on a train as well!
I think it could work, depending on how its done and your gut feeling for the person.
I was on a business trip in Prague recently, just for the day, and when walking down the street, was approached by a nice looking, presentable guy in a suit asking me if I would like to join him for a drink. Unfortuantely, he asked in Czech, so I didn't understand, but being a true European, he seemlessly switched to English and was very sweet. And then gutted when I told him I didn't actually live in Prague but London - I think he felt the commute would be too much!!
It did brighten my day and made me wish that that happended to me at home!
