I think you should look at the blue line on this chart and get a sense of proportion!

Soon, I hope, because then all those idle, selfish, rich a**seholes will be on the same level as me and we'll all be starting with the same gun.
The day after "Bulls**t Tony" quits, then he can say "Nowt to do wi me "

Yeah i agree jag and zen
It'll crash sometime, as is does every once in a while, which is the nature of capitalism. But, don't ever believe what you've been told by the ruling government, especially this lot, N. Labour and Tory Bliar. Unfortunately, saxy_jag, the people you describe will be least affected when it does happen.
Why don't you just make yourself a lot money saxy_jag. Not everyone with money is corrupt, evil, idle and selfish, some of us made our own from literally sod all.
About 18 months to 3 years if you want my personal estimate and Tweed is right it won't affect those you'd like it to, it's more likely to affect those with very little.
If you look at that chart you'll see that (give or take a wobble under Majors Government) the national debt has satyed at a bit under 50% of GDP since the early 80s

I wish my mortgage was 50% of my income!

I think Engineer you're just engaging in wishful thinking

No im just wondering at all those with big morgages and in debt upto there eyeballs.

I wont be worried , people think the world revolves around money - how silly they are.
Question Author
Well maybe Just a little wishful thinking.

I think it'll crash, this Chancellor inherited a stong economy, first thing he did was sell half our Gold reserves, and ever since, he's kept the economy afloat, but raising taxes, pillaging pensions, bringing in new taxes etc.

He's actually on of the worst Chancellors we've ever had.
who cares - i am bored of material things now anyway
Not far off ~ and nox is right in his usual wisdom, it won't affect the super rich. It will be us middle people and the ones below...
Noxlumos, if only it were that easy, then in my thirty years of adulthood I would be a squillionaire - and believe me, I have tried.

Please note, I did say idle, selfish rich ********s. I do know some very nice, very rich people. But when I hear others going on about how they can't afford to go skiing or replace the Merc this year if dear Tarquin is to go to university (well, one has to to make sacrifices, doesn't one), it makes my blood boil.

When people earn less it makes them think about what matters and make the money go further.
The more you earn the more you spend, the most ive ever earnt in my life is 8 per hour and ive had many jobs which alot i loved and alot i hated, but due to having been raised with working class parents and i really do know the value money.
As to people who think they are above others , well just remember its the small people in the uk that keep it running.

Is it a bad time to take out a huge mortgage then? I have just found a lovely house that wants a lot of work and I would dearly like to buy it
