Broken underfloor heating

I live in the NE of England and my underfloor heating has been down for 4O years and has stopped working. I believe there is a tool which will locate where the break is and then that bit of concrete can be dug up and the repair done, rather than digging up the whole floor. Does anyone know of anyone who can do this repair?

Ask a plumber who has been doing it for a long while, i think theres a camera you can put into the system, providing its not to complicated and easy to get to.

You can get cameras into 6 inch pipes, but not much less, so I'm sure of that approach.
I may be wrong but I guess this is an electric system, not a water one??? Because with a water one the floor gets very damp in the area of the break, and it doesn't completely stop the system. If it is electrical, I think there are ways of doing it because the Electricity Board used a gadget in my driveway to find where the break in the mains supply was. Please clarify what sort of system you have.

Yes it is definately an electrical system, but very old. When you say the electricity board helped you , which one is this as it is difficult now that they have all been split up.

actually u can get a camera into much smaller than 6"--think of those cameras surgeons use--anyway that is by the way--being electrical any competent electrician should be able to find the location of the fault--they use an instrumrnt called a wheatstone bridge--in the case of buildersmate it would have been the elec board cos the problem was in the supply to the building--find a local electrician in yellow pages
