Pfizer, the US drugs group, was the original owner of the patent for Viagra until it lost these rights last week, after a High Court revoked Pfizer's patent on grounds that the male anti-impotence mechanisms had been widely reported in scientific literature before Pfizer's patent was filed in 1993. So, as it stands, nobody currently owns the patent for Viagra.
