Faith Schools...

Anyone have an opinion as to whether faith schools are a good or bad thing? Do they encourage tolerance and diversity, or the opposite..?

I strongly believe that schools and religions should be kept separate full stop. But that's my opinion and my opinion alone. Sorry can't elaborate got a busy day 'moro.

I don't think there should be faith schools at all, of any reigion, Faith should be taught in the places of worship, or at home, leave faith out of all schools, and let the children get on with mixing together.

Agreed if the American school system has one thing right it's that.

Religion has no place in schools - If people want to teach it to their children let them do it in their own time at their own expense.

One only has to look at the Christian schools which have started to teach Intelligent Design to see it's a bad thing.

i think religion should be left out of education.i live in west central scotland and see first-hand the hostility it breeds.faith schools just breed intolerance to those of other faiths.as for muslim schools, (if they pay for it themselves that is and not with my taxes), theres nothing we can do about it.and by the way, let them buy their own burkha medical gowns(as per the news today) !! as if the NHS isnt overstretched enough!

If faith schools taught all religions there would not be so much of an issue. I would also question whether faith schools are a logical possibility and therefore anyone who champions them is likely to be an idiot. Taught faith is indoctrination.

As long as England is a free country we should have the right to make the choice.

However, with being free comes great responsibilities: the responsibility to understand and accept that we are all free. People who attend faith schools and then try to impose their faiths on the rest of the nation, be them islamic, buddist, Christian, Catholic or any other faith, especially if that imposing is done in a violent or coercive way are not honouring the freedom they enjoyed in attending a Faith school in the first place and they have no place in the land of freedom.

Of People who have much; of much is required.

if you wanna learn to be a muslim then go to a muslim country, and stay there , the quicker the better.

they are nothing but trouble and the problems they cause will only get worse.

Seems like they're pretty unpopular - at least on here then :oD Does anyone know if the Government is still planning to promote them? They seemed quite keen on the idea not so long ago.
