something ove always wondered is if black people are keeping themsleves within rascism. I hold the definition of rascism as isolating and treatnig other races unfairly. So shurely things like the mobo awards are in fact slightly rasicst due to the fact that they prevent integaration between races???

In the case of the MOBO Awards, I don't think so. The full name is 'Music Of Black Origin', with emphasis on origin. I think white artists have appeared at MOBO.
I agree with you L.O.T but I think you will get in trouble for saying it. MOWO (music of white orogin) would be seen as racist so why not vica verca
Do you object to the Kerrang! awards for celebrating the metal (and related) genre? Or the Radio 2 Folk Awards?

White people can and have won MOBOs; it is not restricted to black people. It is about a genre of music.

I don't think Black is a music genre and what I think L.O.T is talking about is why mention race at all?
Nor or is 'Kerrang!' a genre of music, but I don't see anyone getting into a fluster over the grouping of several clearly-related musical forms under one title there!

Still, you get yourself into a yet another tizzy over something utterly trivial if you wish.
Most music is of 'black origin', and white artists have indeed won: the fantastic Bebel Gilberto, Christina Aguilera, Tim Westwood, Eminem, Santana, Mick Hucknell, as well as 'mixed acts' such as Another Level, All Saints.

So it's absolutely open to all acts as long as they're creating music which is recognisably from black origins - jazz, rap, r'n'b etc.

You won't see Kylie or Robbie nominated, but then again, you won't see them nominated in the Billboard Country Music Awards.

I don't see where racism comes into it. If white producers of 'black' music were excluded, then I would see a problem.

Incidentally, there already IS an award show for 'music of white origin'...it's called the MOBOs. The vast majority of music in the charts today actually originated from discos, r'n'b clubs, rock and roll and Motown.

The only exception is music produced by Busted.

...that originated in hell.
i don't think it has anything to do with racism nor is it an example of social stratification along racial lines. Its honouring music of a particular meta-genre.

But then, isn't all popular music Of Black Origin?
To answer your question, I would say that the Mobo's exist as a result of racism. Rather than the Mobo's causing a racism as your question rather idiotically implies.
Ouch juddlinski...a bit harsh on lightoftruth there!

I think lightoftruth genuinely wanted to know whether the MOBOs were a form of musical segregation, and from the answers he's/she's got, I think we can safely say that they aren't.
I was going to put the exact same question asking if we had MOWO awards we would get in trouble for it. A lot arent bothered but there seems to be a lot that think society owes them something. I posted a question yesterday that you might like. And it showed that maybe some whites are to blame too, as making a big issue of things. Either way I would have been in the wrong. As I explained its one rule for one ..

I was watching airport the other day and something made me chuckle. A woman was refused to go on a plane because she didnt have a childs passport with her, she hadnt read ticket instructions properly yet she stood there and said I know what this is about its because of my colour isnt it. Made me laugh because it is people like her that as you said keep racism alive.
"it's people like her that keep racism alive."

No.
It.
Isn't.

It's racists. White racists (usually) who keep racism alive. Not black women with attitude problems in airports.

When I put people like her I didnt mean black people like her. The airport attendant had done nothing to even suggest it was to do with her colour, she was the one that bought it up. If I had forgotten my babies passport and wasnt happy with them telling me I couldnt get on flight (even when my fault) it would be ludicrous for me to say 'its because I'm white isnt it' Thats my opinion that some and I said some in my earlier post do play on it. I am not racist in anyway this is my opinion.
Can I ask what race/colour you are juddlinski?
I'm in the Klu Klux Klan.
Ok so you say the question was idiotically impliying something. I think you just idiotically beat that with your answer hands down.
we could have had a good debate but I was going to agree that yes people loike the woman in airport wouldnt be like that if it hadnt have been for racists but just gets bit silly sometimes. Then you mentioned Klu Klux Klan and I aint even going there.
It was ridiculous answer to a ridiculous question. Why do you need to know what colour I am? To justify your own dodgy belief system?
Is it because I was black?
