Amsterdam smoking ban

I read somewhere on the net that they are thinking of introducing a smoking ban in public places in Amsterdam (i.e. like New York) Does anyone know any more?

It is indeed true. There are proposals for this ban - here is a link to a BBCi news story that highlights the impact such a ban would have on the 'coffe shop' culture in Amsterdam.
