You have 'strong' evidence that OBL will be dining in a restaurant with a number of his chief lieutenants.

But, but, there will be civilians there too.

It is your shout - do you send in a missile ?

Ah, my old mate zoro, as ever making me look a total idiot.

crete - I would be interested if you could expand on that a bit.

tinaL - after one of my chicken fatali phalls at least he would be housebound until the next afternoon.

No a sniper!!
I'd tell him that over the years the Koran has been mis-translated so many times that when he eventually dies and goes to heaven he has a chance of having sex with a 72 year old man named Virgil.
easy whiffey.............civilians
Question Author
crete - Dresden, Hamburg.

Peenemunde - where the bomber force deliberately targetted the houses of (civilian) technicians.

War is sh!te.

It will never be my call, but for a few people it is. In wars people die. Better to examine why wars happen than to quibble about command decisions taken genuinely during conflict. Hitler invaded Poland. Britain started an argument over it. Millions died.

OBL dining in a restaurant. It makes you think.

whiffey do you think if O B L was assissinated war would end ?

No crete, I do not. I could type a river on this one, but I won't bore you and everybody else.

The World has encountered a difference that cannot be mediated.

im really sorry to say but you may be right .
No. It might have been morally right to do so to Hitler, who was continuing to cause the deaths of millions whose lives you could save by killing him. But the death of bin Laden - assuming he's still alive - won't make any difference; he doesn't have armies under his command, just people who feel inspired by him, and they will go on being inspired whether he lives or dies. If you know where he is, arrest him and try him.

So jno, you are saying that to bomb Hitler with collateral damage was ok, but to bomb Bin Laden with collateral damage is not ?

People pick me up on trying to compare contemporary events with WW2, Dresden, Hamburg, etc. Apart from time, there is not a lot of difference.

Ultimately, what is anybody fighting for, why fight at all indeed, why not just lie down and accept everything.

I support my country and way of life. It is worrying how many people sit on their ar$es in comfort and criticise the country that gives them their security.

yes - I'm saying if you have cause to believe your actions will prevent future deaths, it may be morally justifiable. If it's just to punish past killings, it's not; that's what the law is for.
Yes
Not a missile; I'd send in Jack Bauer.
It strikes me that the best thing that you can do to Bin Laden is to stick him in the slammer with infidels and do nothing as he is bent over every night. Then again, I always thought his lifestyle was deeply homoerotic - he might love a prison regime with all those butch men.
I'm with NikkiB ~ excellent answer..give her stars, whiff.
obl is an excuse!
