Yes, and it's a shame that there are going to be those who use this as proof that we're all going to hell in a handcart.
These three are no more representative of their race than the Liverpudlians who axed Anthony Walker to death a couple of years back.
...or indeed the straight people who decided that they had the right to kick Jody Dobrowski to death.

There's nothing good about this story. Nothing at all. It makes you glad that your own family aren't going through what Kriss's family are going to face for the rest of their lives...
...however, the next time someone shouts, "No blacks or Asians are ever accused of racial assaults".
Well, this story proves that to be nonsense.

I think it is an absolute disgrace that the minimum terms set for these barbaric cretures was only 22, 23 and 25 years. In one of the pictures on sky news website there are giving the fingers after the verdict, surely this shows they are not remorseful and would probably do the same again, life should mean life and that's it, government serioulsy needs to review the system. Heartfelt sorrow goes out to the family of Kriss.

BNP all the way?
Not sure that BNP policies would necessarily help ease racial tensions in the area. In fact, don't you think they'd inflame differences even more?
Phew - look at that!
I answered a pro-BNP post without resorting to ranting or name calling.
I believe that makes me a grown up at long last.

Maybe some of their policies wouldn't help the matter but it would definately reduce the amount of these people coming into the country. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that white people don't get into trouble or do things like this but for a boy of 15 who is actually from this country being attacked in his own country for it by people who are from a totally different culture/backround/beliefs etc is outrageous. Maybe some of my comments are out of order but I'm extremly angry at all the controversy surrounding these types of people lately and the problems they have caused our country of late, I don't htink many people can blame me!
I hope that all those who seem to think that prosecutions for racism are all against the white population are watching this and taking note!
I'd have thought this was good evidence that the law is colour blind
Seems some people think that any sucessful prosecutiuon for racial crimes is evidence that race relations is failing.
Strange logic if you ask me!

Actually, the people who are attacked most frequently are gay men and women. In terms of day to day abuse and attacks, and infrequently, murder, gays are disproportionately represented in police stations and sadly...morgues.

So you can understand where I'm coming from...imagine you have a brother who's gay - now imagine you get a phone call at 03:30am one Saturday to say he's been murdered...and that the people who killed him disfigured him so badly that he could only be identified by his dental records.
This is what happened to that barman, and what's the public reaction?
Not much really...seriously - who can even remember his name?
The reason I get riled up about this is that this is the most pervasive form of abuse, but the general public seem to think it's acceptable.
However, when a straight person is killed in a racist attack (from either side), we all recognise it as a social problem.
What happened to Kriss is beyond my comprehension. I never want to feel what his family are feeling...they heard how their child was killed and they will replay it over and over in their heads until they die.
Now is certainly not the time to start promoting the virtues of a party who will add to the pain, because I guarantee - of the BNP ever got into power, there will be more mothers and fathers crying, not less.
Rant over...for now.

Here we go again, it's a great pity that none of you were able to watch Frontline Scotland last night. It highlighted the fact that instead of inciting race riots etc, this appalling murder united most of the people in this area of Glasgow! Many of the witnesses against the accused were Asian and it showed that the accused were part of a gang who terrorised many within the Asian community itself! Indeed it was thanks to the Asian community and Labour MP Mohammed Sarwar that they were traced to Pakistan and brought back to face justice. Kriss's mum herself appealed for calm after his murder and the general feeling in Glasgow is that it was more of a gang related murder than a racist crime! Although it has to be said that Kriss himself was a quiet decent boy and not part of any gang!
I was reading about Imran Shahid in the papers this morning. He did four years for battering a man into a coma (and subsequently leaving him brain damaged).
He's rumoured to have cut off his brother-in-law's finger and shortly before killing Kriss, he served time for punching a female motorist in the face, felling her.
Now...we've always had gangs - it's almost a British tradition (the Kray boys loved their mum etc etc), but Shahid sounds like he was completely out of control.
You have to have a pretty messed up mindset to be able to happily set light to another human being.

Yes LazyGun, have to say that it was quite interesting, apparently the Pollockshields area of Glasow has the highest % of Asians in Scotland...around 50% and much is done by both communities to help everyone get on, mostly through sport, football badminton etc, in fact they had a cricket match in the summer between local youths and Strathclyde Police! Mind you for me one of the highlights of the programme was when they showed BNP leader Nick Griffin in Glasgow just after the murder trying to stir up racial hatred being given his marching orders by everyone involved..think they felt he was just using the tragic death of Kriss to further his party ends...personally think they were right! Don't feel the programme painted a happy ever after community but it did try to portray a community that was trying to do the best for it's people and for that they should be commended!
