Now we're paying out a fortune for druggies who had to dry out, poor darlings.
Is there ever to be an end to this madness?
What about the people whose lives these b*stards make a misery robbing and mugging.
This Govewrnment has alot to answer for.
HRA again I suppose
Any views ?

They'll be round the nearest scag dealers before the ink on the cheque is dry! And who's paying, as always, the good members of society who drag their arses to work in the morning to pay taxes so thes parasites can live on ridiculous compensation claims.
***************, stupidest answer i've ever heard, addicts are not victims and don't deserve sympathy. Treating them as something special and pandering to their needs is the thing that has made sure their are so many of them. They know they can carry on as they like and nothing will happen to them until they have commiteed hundreds of offences, and when they end up in some cushy nick they have people running around after them. If they were treated like the scum they are and as well as cold turkey they had to endure a good hiding then they would think twice, thats all they understand.
Funny how it's our old friend the euro bill of human rights thats responsible for this farce. Especially seen as we'll be the only country who will do something as ridiculous as this when the law is supposed to apply to all of us. Thanks Tony Blair and your legacy (Human Rights bill, Iraq, f**ked country)

Now please dont think im condoning the cushty life of prisoners...i simply feel that they should be given methadone treatment.
Also...can anyone who has replied to this post actaully seen whats its like when somebody goes cold turkey of heroin...without methadone??? if the answer is no then you have no argument against my point.

I'd love to see a smack head having a cold turkey, if they don't want go through that ordeal then don't take it in the first place. Simple really. And at least if they are having a cold turkey they aren't burgling my house or breaking into my car or leaving needles in the park next to my house. And **iteof truth if you haven't had any of these things happen to you then you can't argue with my point. They deserve everything they get and more.
jonnythebosh- i strongly belive that we should toughen jails up..take away all there luxuries such as tv's and comfy beds etc etc. I also belive there should be tougher prison sentances and zero tolerance on thuggrty and anti-social behaviour...
But putting a heroin addict though complete cold turkey is along the same lines of torture..nay it is torture. and i belive in this country we are at a level in our civilisation that we frown upon such things.
And if im perfectly blunt mr "bosh" if your would enjoy seeing someone go through cold turkey...then you are no better than the vilest of vipers!

No, the vilest of vipers is someone who would attack, burgle, steal from etc the most vulnerable members of society to feed their disgusting addiction. Their problems are entirely self inflicted, the way they ruin innocent peoples lives in order to carry on their sickening existence is what should get you worked up, not some snivelling, filthy smackhead getting a tiny proportion what is due to them. You are so compassionate and understanding to these people, until they do the same to you and then you'll be like most right thinking people and regard them with the contempt they deserve.
lightoftruth, the coverage I've seen says they were on methadone before & during the early part of their prison terms. Their complaint was that the methadone prescriptions didn't last long enough. Surely you must agree that they can't take methadone for ever & if this medication has to end, it's better that it happens in prison (where their previous lifestyle choice is not an option) as opposed to after their release, when they return to where heroin is so readily available to them.
Yes I have seen someone try to go Cold turkey and it's nothing compared to the anguish they cause people around them.
As soon as those prisoners are released they will be back on the brown and on the rob.
If they are so concerned about human rights then they should put their payout into drugs charities
There is a massive heroin trade in UK prisons and there are drug rehabilitation facilities
Human rights? The minute you take that stuff you become sub-human.
And if they knew what proper rehab was like then they wouldn't be on drugs
