Islam is, it would appear, totally misunderstood buy us in the West. We are taken in bit the label it gives itself, "The Religion Of Peace," but something like 98% of all terrorist outrages in the world are perpetrated by muslims.
This is not my opinion, simply a statistical fact that can be checked on by browsing the news items over the last ten years, in case your memories need refreshing.

9/11, 7/7, Bali bomb, as well as the massive attacks by muslims on Israel over the years to name but a tiny few.

Muslims complain of just about everything as well as their brothers being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, but more muslims are killed by other muslims than any other armed group.

Moderate mulims appear to be moderate in spite of the koran not because of it, and their pursuit of jihad, holy war, is just muslims following instructions.

They scare me, and unless our politicians wake up soon .....

It all depends how you define "terrorist outrages" doesn't it? The Americans , Isrealis & British at least, have all carried out attacks on foregin countries on often the flimsiest of evidence , or none at all as in Iraq.

I could do with some enlightening on Islam. I've not studied the Koran, so I know only what I've been told, which is that the basic doctrne of Islam (in a similar vein to Christianity) is pacifistic.

Fanatics would probably be able find commands to kill people on the back of cereal packets...

Of course, I enter debates such as this hoping that I'll learn from them, so feel free to correct me...

I thought you were a shiny happy person, revelling in God's love and all that, yet Muslims scare you? They don't scare me and my wife is Jewish, which according to you might be an issue with Muslims, so whyever would they scare you? Please explain.

Well Kromovaracun, I can only speak from my persional experience of living in london, but I have never had any problems with Muslims who I had a lot of dealings with. I'm Catholic, my wife is Jewish and out best friends are Muslim and if we were to die, perish the thought, I'd have no qualms about them raising our children, as I've found them to be unjudgemental, peace loving,freethinking, intelligent people.
You'll always get nutters perpared to kill people for causes but they are like a pinprick as far as figures are concerned, it's just sad they are all you ever hear about.

Sorry NH. That is a poor paragraph, yet I feel it may be the sort of thing your were looking for, in a school like kind of way. I think you may need a muslim to answer that one but I don't think there are any on AB!
