Thanks for your answers, i really can't see the point, it's a waste of time and money which could be spend doing something far more useful, like actually catching criminals (now there's a thought!), and can imagine it making them a laughing stock.
If they're going to send Christmas cards to anyone then they could have targetted the vulnerable with some helpful tips and safety advice and numbers and such or send people round to advise on security, setting up neighbourhood watch schemes and the like.

I think its a great idea - as with Nox - it demonstrates that the police know who the criminals are and where they live - in essence its a warning.
It will cost the police (guesstimate) a 1 to make and send these cards. Lets say that they send it to 1000 people - if it makes one person think twice and not burgle then it's money well spent in my opinion.

For some years now, the police have been relying on warnings and recycled gimmicks as an alternative to work. We are all familiar with "Now that the evenings are darker, we are going to get off our bottoms and deal with unlit cycles". But nothing changes. The Christmas card gimmick has been done before. They have been collected and have made no difference to anything.
Morning All,
This is what our police are doing in Kent and I think it's fantastic!!!
Leaflets are being distributed to pubs and clubs and other outlets extolling the virtues of the Lock 'Em Inn and the rooms available. Care is taken to describe the minimalist chic, retro decor and facilities include CCTV in all rooms, wipe clean mattresses and a free shuttle bus to the doorstep (with secure cage)..
It also details how a guest will pay for the privilege of spending the night. The price includes an 80 fixed penalty notice, a fine of up to 5000 and a criminal record. Extras may include a longer stay in the form of a prison sentence at one of Her Majestys institutions.
No reservations can be taken and entry is by invitation of the police only.
:-) Merry Christmas from Kent Police

I have to say our police have been very good to us. We have had our car keyed by some nasty dregs and we also have had the delights of gangs of scroats gathering in the park.
The police came and took our CCTV evidence and they are as clear as day on the tapes which got them nicked and we also have HawkEye now. We supposedly live in zero crime area lol, the fact we are a one road parish where peace is all I crave, and yet we were starting to be plagued by scum of *****......
I do hope the police carry on nicking them......
