Can anyone help me to understand how a case of bullying can get this far? 2 dead and 3 in jail, I just cannot comprehend how someone can obsessively hate someone else enough to kill their parents and in doing do so get their own famiy in jail. What must the bullied girl have done to to engender such hatred? It's one of those case where I would love to somehow extract the motivation from the perpetrators, just to try and understand? Sad sad case.

I'm also at a loss on this one, reckon it'd take a trained psychologist to work it out.
i dont think you will ever understand, unless you are truely wicked
I doubt a 16 year old school girl could inspire that much hatred, I suspect the bullying was because, as is usually the case, the bully found her to be an easy target, not a hateful person. It's such a sad case. The affects of childhood bullying can live long into adulthood but most of the time they are overcome at some point. How can this poor girl ever overcome the death of her parents in such circumstances? My heart goes out to her.
weird, isn't it, Loosehead. Not the sort of case of random killing which horrifies people occasionally but just the opposite: lethal obsession. (Sorry, that sounds like the title of a bad Hollywood thriller.) They must have sat there day after day planning 'This is how we're going to get her', egging each other on. Maybe the key word isn't lethal but obsession: people get so wrapped up in something that they just gradually lose their minds.
but ther must be something that make them do it, if i was in the same situation i could not
but curlyfilm I expect that you are a reasonable, intelligent, moral person with things to do with your life, not an extremely stupid, senseless scumbag with no understanding of consequences and nothing to do but obsess over a 16 year old girl and her family. The fact that you couldn't do it is neither here nor there, you are not comparable to these witless murderers. In my experience bullying and thuggish behaviour does not occur because the target has done something in particular, it occurs because the people doing the bullying want to vent their aggression. The targets are those who can little fight back. Sadly I don't believe there is any explaination for this other than that the scum got a kick out of terrorising this poor family. It was for their own gratification, the Cochrane's were helpless against such people. (In my opinion.)

Well thanks for trying everyone, I guess we are all at a loss to explain this.
here's another one, Loosehead, fortunately averted:

nothing to do with stupidity, scumbags or anything like that, but the obsession is still the thing that stands out.
